Our Target is to Lift Women And Youths Out of Poverty – Dr Mrs Nnenna Adaeze Orji Reveals As Item Women Empowerment Initiative Trains Thousands of Abians in Umuahia

Thousands of Abians are currently, as at the time of this publication undergoing training in different value chains at the Bishop Anthony Nwedo Pastoral Center Umuahia.

This years training, a brainchild of Dr. Mrs Nnenna Adaeze Orji’s Item Women Empowerment Initiative and sponsored by AFREXIM BANK focused on 3 Value chains;

  1. Cosmetics Production
  2. Digital Marketing
  3. Food Processing.

Speaking to Journalists In Umuahia, the founding Chairma. and Trustee of the Organization Dr. Mrs Adaeze Nnenna Orji stated that she was born into philanthropy as her mother, who owned the popular Princess Day School Aba was a Known Philanthropist who imbibed the virtue in virtually all her children.

In her words “My late husband Prof Herbert Orji, God continue to rest his soul, used to call me a ‘bleeding heart’ because, whatever i have is for everyone”.

“We started this project in 2014, myself and my brother, a medical Doctor in America as a medical outreach.”

“He will bring in his colleagues and we rally whatever we could to buy drugs for the outreach and storm Nigeria under the aegis of HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATION FOR AFRICA.”

“Upon retirement and having more time for myself and the project, i decided to bring it home to Item, with the aim of curbing some societal ills, like Early pregnancy without marriage, dropping out of school and other ills.”

“Through the program, we were able to train and make a lot of Item Youths and women productive and self reliant.”

“Right now we have brought the program to a bigger stage where everyone from all parts of the state can benefit by participating and eventually getting empowered.”

She encouraged the participants to take the training very seriously as it a sure way to be self reliant and productive which are key elements towards a fulfilled life!

Dr Mrs Nnenna Adaeze Orji was Former Chief Judge Investment & Securities Tribunal, Director enforcement and legal adviser securities and exchange commission, Trustee and Founding Chairman Item Women Empowerment Initiative as well as Herbert Onye Orji Foundation.
