Abia Faith-based And Elders Council: Positioning as Gatekeepers and Watchdogs for Good Governance in Abia State
PRESS RELEASE
ABIA FAITHBASED AND ELDERS COUNCIL (AFEC)
Positioning as Gatekeepers and Watchdogs for Good Governance in Abia State….
The Abia FaithBased and Elders Council (AFEC) hereby reaffirms its divine and civic mandate to serve as both a spiritual gatekeeper and a watchdog of governance in Abia State.
As a non-partisan body of respected Christian leaders and elders, AFEC recognizes that the destiny of a people is shaped not only by political leadership but also by spiritual alignment and moral accountability. In this regard, the Council is committed to providing both prayerful covering and principled oversight for leadership across the state.
In its role as Gatekeeper, AFEC shall establish and sustain a coordinated prayer altar for Abia State, mobilizing intercessors and church leaders to continually seek divine guidance, peace, and progress for the state. The Council will organize periodic prayer summits and maintain a responsive spiritual structure to address critical moments in the life of the state.
As a Watchdog, AFEC will actively engage in promoting accountability, equity, justice, and good governance. The Council shall issue objective position statements, engage relevant stakeholders, and advocate for policies that prioritize the welfare of the people of Abia State. AFEC will also support credible and transparent electoral processes, while resisting all forms of corruption, injustice, and divisive governance.
The Council emphasizes that its operations remain strictly non-partisan, guided solely by the principles of truth, integrity, and the common good.
AFEC will not be aligned with any political party but will work with all leaders who are committed to delivering responsible and people-centered governance.
AFEC calls on all political office holders across executive and legislative arms to embrace transparency, accountability, and servant leadership in the discharge of their duties.
The Council also urges the people of Abia State to remain engaged, prayerful, and committed to the collective responsibility of building a just and prosperous society.
The Abia Faithbased and Elders Council stands as the moral voice, the spiritual watchtower, and the conscience of leadership in Abia State.
Signed:
