The Nkpa Wrestling Event Not An NCDU Event – NCDU President General Ugoo Nwosu Clarifies
The President General of Nkpa Central Development Union Bishop Elect Ugoo Nwosu has reacted to the recent comments following a private wrestling event organized by a son of Nkpa, in the person of Mr Ugochukwu Onoka through his foundation, Ugobest Foundation.
Speaking to our correspondent over the weekend, the Bishop Elect Ugoo Nwosu stated thus:
“That particular event has nothing to do with NCDU and myself. The young man organizing it is from Amaegbuato and he merely put my picture there to honour me as the President General of Nkpa.”
“Our people have the right to react negatively to the flyers because it would have been an affront to tag our collective age long heritage to a particular politician and political party.”
“I deemed it necessary to make this clarifications because of the negative comments it is already generating, so that our people can know the true position of things.”
“Politicians can go ahead and play there politics the way they seem fit but NCDU under my watch will always put Nkpa first”.
Our correspondent also got the rebuttal from the organizers of the wresting bout, which is also in tandem with the submission of the President General.

THE ABOVE FLYER REFERS:
Sequel to the ripples and dust the above event flyer has raised, I want to clarify as follows:
- That the event schedule is solely planned and sponsored by my foundation known as; UGOBEST HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION.
- That neither the NCDU nor the PG is a party to the event.
- That the portrait of the PG on the flex was in mere recognition of his position as our community head.
- That I consulted widely before embarking on this program which the major objective is to promote our cultural heritage beyond our neighboring communities and surroundings.
- That a committee headed by Rev. Ikemefula G. Ukwu (CIDIC) was set up to plan and coordinate this program in
adherence to our cultural norms and practices. - That as a sporting activity, the programme was aimed at bringing our various villages together in unity, love and spirit of sportsmanship with the excitement of the entertainment.
- That the cash prices attached was aimed at making our wrestling festival more attractive to both participants and spectators.
- That UGOBEST FOUNDATION bears the whole cost and responsibilities of all there to and shall not in any way undermine our community’s wrestling cultural heritage.
