Recently the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti stated that the appointments so far made by his administration are based on Merit.

True to that his assertion many of his appointees are already breaking new grounds, rewriting history and repositioning their places or primary assignment just a couple of months after assuming office.

When Dr Alex Otti appointed Dr. Chimezie Okwuonu as the Chief Medical Director of Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center, everyone who knows Dr. Okwuonu knew that the story of the institution will certainly change in no distant time.

True to that believe and barely few months after, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria conducted a re-accreditation exercise on Monday 11th November & restored accreditation for Housemanship training to Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center.

In addition the panel also increased the quota for engagement from 24 to 36, that means more Doctors will henceforth have the opportunity to do their house jobs with the Center.

With this, the institution will be able to re-start the training of freshly graduated and inducted Medical Doctors for a one year housemanship training, an opportunity which hitherto eluded the state and the center.

This is not just an important and significant milestone but a testament that Dr Alex Otti has an eye for diligent, young, experienced, passionate and patriotic Abians who have come to assist him in repositiong the state.

The governors health friendly policies and actions has continued to speak to the various problems hitherto be clouding the health sector and has restored the confidence that is supposed to be intrinsically imbued in the health sector.

Bravo your Excellency Dr. Alex Otti and kudos Dr Chimezie Okwuonu, the future is brighter.
