Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, FCA, CON, former Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, has described the simultaneous commencement of the Lenten season by Christians and the holy month of Ramadan by the Muslim Ummah as a deeply significant and spiritually symbolic moment for Nigeria.
According to Dr. Ogah, the convergence of these two sacred seasons presents a rare and powerful opportunity for collective reflection, strengthened national unity, and renewed commitment to the enduring values of faith, sacrifice, love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

He noted that both Lent and Ramadan are solemn periods marked by fasting, prayer, repentance, and charity virtues that are essential for personal transformation and national renewal. He therefore called on Christians and Muslims observing these sacred seasons to use the period to seek God’s divine intervention in the affairs of Abia State and Nigeria at large…Dr. Ogah urged both faith communities to pray fervently for national unity, economic stability, improved security, purposeful leadership, and lasting peace across the country.

This is a profound spiritual moment for our nation, Dr. Ogah stated. “As Christians observe Lent and Muslims fast during Ramadan, I encourage all the faithful to lift Nigeria before God in earnest prayer and supplication. Let us seek divine wisdom and guidance to overcome our challenges and work together to build a more united, prosperous, and peaceful country.

He further wished Christians a spiritually fulfilling Lenten season and Muslims a blessed and rewarding Ramadan, praying that this sacred period brings renewed strength, abundant blessings, and enduring hope to families in Abia State and across the nation.
