Opinion: Hypocrisy Within Leadership of Abia APC – Abia Rejoice Movement

Published

on

Politics must never be reduced to a game of convenience, double standards, and selective morality. What we are witnessing today within the leadership structure of Abia APC is a clear demonstration of political hypocrisy at its peak.

When Dr. Uche Ogah courageously and openly called on Abians to support Governor Alex Otti to complete his second term, the reaction from many within the Abia APC leadership was nothing short of fury, outrage, condemnation, and political hostility. He was attacked, criticized, suspension dished out to him and portrayed as though he had committed an unforgivable offence against the party.

Today, the same political space has suddenly gone quiet because Hon. Nkeiruka is strategically using Governor Alex Otti as a political reference point for her own campaign against the very governorship candidate of her party. Strangely, those who shouted the loudest against Dr. Uche Ogah are now mute. No anger. No disciplinary threats. No media attacks. No accusations of anti-party activities.

This raises a very important question: Is support for Governor Alex Otti only considered wrong when it comes from Dr. Uche Ogah within the ranks of Abia APC?

The truth remains that Dr. Uche Ogah was only ahead of his time. He spoke from political conviction, courage, and sincerity. What many condemned yesterday is exactly what others are now practicing openly today. Time has a way of justifying men who speak with honesty and political foresight.

Hon. Nkeiruka, knowingly or unknowingly, has validated the position Dr. Uche Ogah took when he openly endorsed the re-election of Governor Alex Otti. Her political actions today have further exposed the inconsistency and selective outrage that exists within the ranks of the Abia APC leadership.

However, while we thank Hon. Nkeiruka for finally identifying with the general wishes and political direction of the people of Abia State, the bitter truth remains that political relevance is not built on opportunism alone. Leadership is measured by impact, performance, and legacy. Unfortunately, after spending sixteen good years in the House of Representatives, the question many Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency continue to ask is: what truly changed for the people? Political longevity without visible transformational impact cannot suddenly manufacture credibility.

In politics, truth does not change because of who speaks it. What is right remains right, regardless of whose voice carries it. Men who speak the truth ahead of others are often attacked first before they are eventually vindicated.

History will always remember those who had the courage to speak truth even when others were afraid to do so.

God bless all those who stand for truth, fairness, and political honesty, even when it is difficult and dangerous to speak.
