MOUAU Employment Saga: Vice Chancellor Has No Hand In The Recruitment Exercise

The management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike has reacted to various comments on the ordeal of some persons involved in the institutions employment imbroglio.

Speaking to newsmen during a press briefing, the head Public Relations And Protocol Unit of the Institution, Anyaso Anyaso stated that “the Vice Chancellor emphatically stressed that the employment process, including the capturing of staff for payroll was already concluded prior to Ist March 2026 when she took over as the Vice Chancellor of the University.”

He further highlighted that the “Crux of the matter is that the federal Government gave a waiver for the recruitment of 426 staff, a figure the Governing Council also approved and directed the THEN Vice Chancellor/Management to strictly adhere to.”

“Ironically, appointment letters were issued to 618 persons, out of which 553 were captured by the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System(GIFMIS), and they eventually uploaded only the 426 originally approved by the government and Governing Council.”

To this end, it is apparent that the Vice Chancellor has no access to the GIFMIS Platform to either remove or change any name.

Members of the public and other stakeholders are urged to disregard insinuations being peddled by my mischief makers.

The general public is also urged to rely the official University Channels for accurate information and should endeavor to refrain from circulating unverified reports.
