Isi Gate Traders Cry Out To Gov Otti – Save Us From Constant Harassment, Help us Fix Orieogwu Afara New Site, We will gladly Move
Traders at Isi gate has cried out to Governor Alex Otti to help them and fix the new site designated for them at Orieogwu Afara.

Current state of the Proposed Permanent Site at Orieogwu Afara Umuahia
This call is coming on the heels of the 48hours ultimatum given by Umuahia Capital Development Authority mandating the traders to vacate from the area effective tomorrow 18th April 2026.
Speaking to Newsmen at Isigate, one of the leaders of the Traders Mr. Ikechi Sunday stated thus:
“We are supporters of Dr. Alex Otti and we love what he is doing in Abia state and we are ready to vote for him again.”
“What we are saying is that we accept and are ready to move to the new site at Orieogwu Afara and we have been waiting for Government to finish fixing the place so that we can move to permanent place and end this constant Harassment from every government that comes to power.”
“We are surprised to hear that UCDA has given us from now till tomorrow to move to Okigwe Park. A space that is not up to the size of a football field.”
“The place they are asking us to temporarily move to is not up to the size of a football field and can not even contain the traders in front of the new bus terminal not to talk of the whole Isi gate.”

The little space at Okigwe Park
“What is the essence of chasing us around to another temporary site when we already have a permanent site?”
“We therefore call on our dear Governor to call UCDA and their workers to order. What we are looking for daily is how to feed our families.”
“If they need to reclaim the space around the newly built Bus terminal, they can do that and move them to Okigwe Park, if it will contain them, but asking the whole Isi gate to move to that small space at Okigwe Park is like trying to pass a horse through the eye of a needle.”
He further thanked the Governor for his proactiveness in getting a permanent sight for them and pleaded with him to put pressure on the contractors handling the new site at Orieogwu Afara to expedite action on the market, to save them from the constant Harassment and embarrassment they face everyday in the hands of various task force and touts!
